INTRODUCTION FROM THE AUTHOR
With its combination of gorgeous mountain views,
incredible snow, and pure party mayhem, South Lake Tahoe is a hard
place to beat for spring break adventurers. What Tahoe may lack in
bikini-clad women, it makes up for it with its own breed of eye
candy---the snow bunny. While sitting around sipping margaritas in
Mexico is indeed a blast, South Lake Tahoe can offer students a
chance to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors. This is
especially true for those who go to school in, say, San Diego and
want to take a break from the beaches and experience the
winter.
Tahoe is essentially broken up into two mountain areas: North Lake
and South Lake. While North Lake may be home to the bulk of
mountain resorts like the ubiquitous Squaw Valley, South Lake rules
in the party atmosphere. Down here, Heavenly Mountain dominates.
This enormous mountain comprises a variety of terrain from the
smallest bunny hill to the double-black goodness of Mott Canyon.
The best part of South Lake is that you can take the gondola from
mid-mountain directly into the Heavenly Village, where you can
finish off a hard day on the slopes with some good old-fashioned
boozing. Plus, with the college student season pass, you can ride
without putting a huge dent in your wallet. So there you have
it---South Lake Tahoe is the ideal spring break balance between
pastimes and parties.
