Students Speak Out On . . . TRANSPORTATION

SB-SpeaksOut"Since we drove to Havasu, we definitely spent a third of what those who went to Cabo spent. It was refreshing to come back to school and have enough money left to get detox pills."

"Our group of friends drove to Havasu, parked the car, and didn't touch it for the next four days except for emergency groceries or booze. Parking seems to be easy---it's like most of the other beach cities where you pay a daily fee and are set."

"We walked everywhere, which made life so much easier. But I hear that the bus is pretty good if you are stranded outside of where the party scene is."

The College Prowler Take On . . . TRANSPORTATION

SB-TakeOnBesides having to wait an eternity for the cabs to come and then being charged huge initial costs and mileage, the idea of getting a taxi is brilliant. No one can afford DUIs or should even think about risking it, so just dial up a cab company when you're leaving the bars. A taxi ride from Lake Havasu's downtown bar scene isn't that long and will only cost about $10. Or a free alternative is to just walk. On foot, most of the bars are all in the same vicinity.

The easiest way to get to Havasu is to get a group of friends to carpool. From the Tucson, Ariz ., area, it costs approximately $200 to fill up the gas tank, and the drive takes about five and half hours. From Phoenix, it's about a four-hour drive. If you are able to drive, you will probably spend much less than students who headed off to other spring break destinations, such as Cabo San Lucas or CancĂșn. Since the Lake Havasu City Airport no longer has commercial flights available, students looking to fly into the area have to choose between airports in Phoenix and Las Vegas, which is about three hours away.

The College Prowler Grade On . . . TRANSPORTATION

C

A high grade for Transportation indicates that public buses, cabs, and rental cars are readily available and affordable. Other determining factors include proximity to an airport and the necessity of transportation.
