INTRODUCTION FROM THE AUTHOR
Lake Havasu, an oasis amidst the vast Death Valley
desert, has been a spring break destination since the early '80s,
when MTV first established it as being one giant party on the
water. Lake Havasu is known for its outdoor activities---ATVing,
cliff diving, dirt biking, Jet Skiing, wakeboarding, and drinking
beer in the sun. Lake Havasu prides itself on being an outdoor host
to everything involving nature, and spring break is just that but
with a keg along for the ride. Renting a boat is by far the best
way to cruise the scene and make your way to party coves that are
approximately 10 minutes from the hotels. The option of a mellow
all-inclusive resort vacation in Lake Havasu is available if your
wallet is big enough to accommodate that, but mainly, this
destination, especially in the latter weeks of March, is solely for
poor college students looking for an escape and wanting to
party.
There is a plethora of students from the University of Arizona,
Arizona State University, and New Mexico State, some from the
University of Nevada, and a handful from California schools, all
with one thing in mind---spring break. Lake Havasu is not for a
quiet intimate getaway or a newlyweds' honeymoon, but it does have
spots where partying is not mandatory. Anyone with a love of
nature, water, and a little British history will be quite satisfied
taking a trip to Lake Havasu City, Arizona.
